Film Analysis: Captain Marvel

Summary

This is the second movie of my chronological marvel marathon. It’s about this soldier who thinks that she works for a secret service of warriors that identify with the race of kree. After getting abducted and crashing into earth, she realizes that she grew up in earth and had a whole life before her journeys into space.

If you could work on this film (change it), what would you change and why? I would definitely change the leading role because I think the film wouldn’t get as much hate or backlash if it weren’t for the things she has said after and during the film.

7. How does the film influence particular reactions on the part of viewers (sound, editing,
characterization, camera movement, etc.)? Why does the film encourage such
reactions?
Well the characterization from one of the characters (Nick Fury) is a big thing about this movie. It shows the audience how he lost vision in his eye and how earth made encounters with aliens.
8. Is the setting realistic or stylized? What atmosphere does the setting suggest? Do particular objects or settings serve symbolic functions? it’s a little of both, there’s lots of alien based or marvel based things in the setting but it is mostly on earth with all the backgrounds being mostly realistic.
9. How are the characters costumed and made-up? What does their clothing or makeup reveal about their social standing, ethnicity, nationality, gender, or age? How do costume and makeup convey character? Well the people wearing green leather body suits are kree, people with green faces are skrull, shield agents are wearing suits except for Fury, captain marvel is wearing a kree uniform but different colors
10. How does the lighting design shape our perception of character, space, or mood? There’s a lot of scenes that are placed just outside and it definitely helps pull us into big action scenes

Explain why you chose this scene.

01:40:50-01:43:43

I chose this because it shows how over powered she is and why it makes this film just subpar
